OUR HISTORY

Our founders volunteered with another local rescue group, where they started and developed a highly successful transport division. When that rescue group decided to terminate the transport component of their program, we saw the value and need for transport services as an avenue to save more lives. At this point we decided to branch out on our own and start our own transport, and thus Road Trip Home was born. In 2013 Road Trip Home became a stand-alone charity with 501(c)3 status as a non-profit organization.  RTH now pulls both dogs and cats from Georgia shelters all over the metro Atlanta area, including Sumter, Chattooga, Cobb, Floyd, Gwinnett, Carroll, and Walton counties. We also work with other local rescue organizations. We are able to offer rescue to strays and owner surrenders. We are fortunate to partner with outstanding groups in the Northeast, including Cape Ann Animal Aid, PAWS Animal Adoption Center, the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Midcoast Humane, and

Lakes Region Animal Shelter.
